Stone Hoof Care began out of pure necessity. My horse, Ridley, spent years unsound, and after going through several traditional farriers, I was told that he “couldn’t hold a metal shoe” until he grew a better hoof. That moment pushed me into the long rabbit hole of learning how to actually grow a better hoof and it ultimately led me to Mackinaw Dells 2 where I became a certified whole horse hoof care practitioner. Today, Ridley and I are living the life we never thought we’d have. Every step we take together is a reminder of why I do this work – because no horse should be held back by their feet, and no owner should feel helpless the way I once did.
Stone Hoof Care provides comprehensive whole- horse hoof care within a two-hour radius of Downsville, New York. As a certified hoof care professional through Mackinaw Dells 2, I focus on balanced trims, long term soundness, improving overall horse health through proper diet, movement, and biomechanics. Stone Hoof Care always considers the horse’s own comfort and response when choosing hoof protection, providing what is best for each individual horse – whether that’s staying barefoot, using composite glue on shoes, applying casting or fitting hoof boots. In addition to whole hoof care services, Stone Hoof Care offers diet recommendations, educational classes for owners and aspiring professionals, and one on one mentorships to support the horse from the inside out.
